Farmyard Field Trips

Contact us to create a field trip that fits your students and curriculum. Visit the farmyard for an animal- and agriculture-focused experience, or combine your visit with the San Dieguito Heritage Museum for a day that brings local history to life.

Led by former teacher Ms. Natalie, field trips can be customized to support your grade level, curriculum, and learning goals.

Welcome & Garden Free Play (15–20 minutes)

Students arrive and ease into the day with hands-on exploration in our garden area:

• Mud Kitchen: Cook up some farm “recipes” using imagination and soil

• Plant Watering: Help tend to the garden with real watering cans

A great time for students to decompress and connect with nature while groups assemble.

We begin our interactive tour with introductions to our beloved animals:

• Meet the Chickens: Learn fun facts and their role on the farm

• Visit the Goats: Friendly and funny- discussing safety, horns, animal traits

• Pig Trick Show: Watch our clever pig Sweet Pea perform a special trick

• Animal Education: Engaging facts and Q&A throughout the tour

Garden Station Rotations (30–40 minutes)

Students rotate through hands-on learning and creative activities in small groups:

• Bunny Meet & Greet: Up-close, gentle interaction with our fluffy friends

• Farm Art Project: Create a take-home piece using natural materials

• Free Choice Activities: Mud kitchen, nature play, and garden exploration

Note: Activities are tailored to the age group and season.

Miniature Horse Encounter (10–15 minutes)

In small groups, students get the opportunity to:

This is a one-on-one, quiet experience guided by staff for safety and connection.

Bringing a big group? We love big groups!
Groups of 30+ students—such as an entire grade level—can take over the ranch for a Ranch-Wide Field Trip, rotating through hands-on stations throughout the farmyard and museum.

Want to bring the whole school—and turn your field trip into a fundraiser?

Ask us about our Living History Days, where students become part of the experience while helping raise money for their school.
